Most recent revelation to genesis

We usually read histories chronologically from the beginning.  It makes the most sense naturally.

In the Bible, we learn of the creation in Genesis and move through the books (with some repetition of events and definitely of doctrine) into Revelation, where we learn of the end of the world.

I try to make a plan for my scripture study each day, and as we have studied the words of one of our most recent prophets, Ezra Taft Benson, I have been reminded of the importance of the Book of Mormon for our day.  It teaches simply Christ's doctrine and helps us come nearer to God.  Because this book of scripture is so important, I have read it often, and the words and phrases in it have become very familiar.  In making my most recent plan for study, I thought that reading the Book of Mormon backwards might offer a fresh perspective and help me see things that I hadn't caught before.  In reality, I always find new things when I study the scriptures.

We believe in relevation: that God can teach and inspire us through the power of the Holy Ghost.  That's what happens when we study the scriptures.  We read things that God has revealed to prophets in the past, and between the lines He is able to inspire us with how we should be personally acting in the present.  Whenever I read the scriptures, search to find answers to my questions, and ponder on the things I study, revelation occurs in my life.  I haven't been making as much time lately for this kind of study, but it makes such a difference.  I need more of God's guidance in my life.

So I'll be reading from Moroni to Nephi, from the last verse and chapter to the first.  We're all works in progress, so it's hard to say how this blog will go, but by recording my impressions I hope to better remember what I learn and possibly help someone else, too.
